Who we are
This website is run by NETjunky (Pty) Ltd, trading as NETjunky Solutions, a company in South Africa. We are the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) for the personal information described on this page.
What we collect
- Emails you send us. If you write to info@netjunky.co.za or abuse@netjunky.co.za we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you tell us.
- Server logs. Our web host records standard technical data when pages are loaded, such as IP address, date and time, page requested and browser type. This is used to keep the site secure and working.
- Nothing else. This website has no accounts, no contact form, no advertising and no tracking or analytics cookies.
Why we use it
- To reply to your question or request.
- To keep the website secure and fix faults.
- To meet our legal duties.
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for marketing unless you ask to hear from us.
Who sees it
Only NETjunky and our hosting and email provider, Afrihost, who process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms. We share information with authorities only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your matter and for a reasonable period afterwards. Server logs are kept for a short period set by our host. You can ask us to delete your emails at any time.
Our web crawler
NETjunky runs a web crawler called NerataBlocklistBot to classify the public websites that Nerata can filter. It reads public pages and stores a title, description and short excerpt of the page, and the website address. It is not designed to collect personal information. Website owners can ask us to exclude their site at any time: see the crawler page or write to abuse@netjunky.co.za.
Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Object to how we use it.
- Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you feel we have not handled your information properly: inforegulator.org.za.
Security
We protect our systems and email with access controls, encryption in transit and regular updates. If personal information is ever compromised in a way that puts you at risk, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
